Joe Howdyshell

Hi, I'm Joe. 2011-2012 will be my second year as the head coach of the Summit Nordic Ski Club. My goal for this club over the next few years is to turn it into one of the premier nordic ski clubs in the country. I believe it's impossible to be good at anything if you don't enjoy it, so I strive to make the Club's atmsphere both challenging and fun.
It is my firm belief that through the support of our club and coaching staff, any athlete of any age and level can acheive their nordic skiing goals as a member of the Summit Nordic Ski Club.
In 2011, the Club had 4 athletes qualify for the USSA Junior National Championships (JN's), with our best finish a 9th place by Tucker McCrerey.
For 2012, I hope to have closer to 10 athletes qualify for JN's, and to have more than 5 top 10 finishes.
I have a Masters's degree in Exercise Physiology, University of Wyoming 2011. I have 2 years racing experience in the Eastern USCSA conference while attending West Point Military Academy. I skied 4 years in the Western USCSA conference while at the University of Wyoming. I was an assistant coach at UW 2007-2009 and coached the summer ski camp for high school athletes at UW 2005-2009.
