Summit Nordic Ski Club Board of Directors

Lowell "Mac" McCoy

Officer Position: Vice Pres & Secretary
Occupation: Retired public school teacher/university teacher: Seasonal Nordic Ski Instructor Athlete(s) in the program (past and present): Myself and my spouse Bonnie
Years on the Board: 1

When I arrived in Summit county, I was delighted to find 2 vigorous organizations, SNSC and Summit Masters, supporting my passion for nordic skiing. At this time, I see the SNSC as an organization in the middle of dramatic change. After years of operating on the expertise and generosity of few individuals, the club is moving to a more sustainable funding and coaching model. In the past, as stated in the SNSC mission statement, the focus has been exclusively on youth racers. Now, we are moving to merge the SNSC and the Summit Masters into one organization that supports and encourages skiers of all ages and abilities. During this period of change I hope to improve communication with club members and the local nordic ski community encouraging everyone can participate in the change process.

SNSC is fast becoming an all-encompassing program to not just youth, but all levels of skiers including masters and all age competitive skiers. Our numbers will continue to grow and our staff with it. We strive to offer the best nordic program in the county with the best coaching and staff. Our biggest challenge remains having enough funding to buy or lease an appropriate van (s) for transportation of skiers AND obtaining a clubhouse/ski center for our membership to use on a daily basis.

I support every athlete in the program.
This is my first year on the Board.

My vision for the SNSC is to promote membership through out Summit County and provide extraordinary opportunities and a well-rounded nordic skiing experience. There will be opportunities for the whole spectrum of nordic skiers, with emphasis on developing young ski racers to potentially compete on the highest level possible, to adult members who have never attempted a local race and need basic instruction and encouragement, to those experienced competitors requiring training and racing opportunities.
